Dedicated to the memory of Angelos Savva Stingas

This site is a tribute to Angelos Stingas. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

We are raising funds in memory of Angelos Stingas to support Derby County Community Trust's Active Recovery Programme.

The Active Recovery Programme is dedicated to helping people who have undergone cancer treatment rebuild their confidence, strength, and fitness; which are all important aspects of recovery that are often impacted by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Angelos was a passionate football fan who spent more than 45 years living in Chaddesden, Derby, which was much considered his home.

Angelos was known as a Local Legend to many of the residents of Chaddesden; all who remember him fondly as the owner of Wood Road Fish Bar (aka Angelo's) on Wood Road, which he ran alongside his beloved wife, Maria.

We know many of their customers (now customers of his daughter and son-in-law, Tina & Bambos) have enquired about donating toward a cause - any amount donated is greatly appreciated.

While Angelos was unable to receive any treatment for his cancer, our family would like to support the people of Derby who can, and support them to lead healthy and fulfilling lives

Thoughts

Trying to carry on without you dad is so hard to do. Everywhere I turn there are reminders of you and I expect to see you. You are the most inspirational person I will ever know. Your love and kindness is what made you the best dad and pappou. Since your passing the amount of support and respect people who knew you has been heartwarming and genuine. I have had so many friends, acquaintances, your customers and neighbours pay their upmost respects to you. One thing about you dad, is that you were certainly a most loved person, your character shone, a true gentleman. The stories people have told me lately of their fond memories of you makes me burst with so much pride. Having a father like you is something that I will always cherish. I wish it wasn’t just memories I have of you now. But i know that you’ll always be by my side and in my thoughts and heart always . You gave me the best life and so much love. We are privileged daughters to have the most beautiful and amazing dad ever. Thank you for always being you xxxx

Today has been a struggle. Sundays aren’t the same without us having to all get up and let you leave the kitchen table because you’d finish eating first. You’d often stand outside in the garden, looking in at all of us from the kitchen window after you’d left the table. I will forever miss this. You always looked so cute looking in on all of us. I wish we were all together again. Even when the house is loud, it feels so quiet without you here. I wish I could hold your hand again Dad. One day I will hold your hand again and I’ll hear your voice and see your smile and we’ll share a daft joke again. Always in my heart Dad xxxx
